How this site makes money, stated plainly, because you should not have to guess.

The reading list at the end of each article may contain affiliate links to booksellers. If you buy something after following one, this site receives a small commission and you pay exactly the same price.

The rule here is simple and worth stating: books are listed because they are the sources the article actually relies on. The reading lists were written before any affiliate programme existed, and no book has been added, moved up, or praised because it pays better. If a source is the best one available and earns nothing, it still gets listed.

Advertising

The site may display advertising. Advertisers have no input into what is written, no advance sight of articles, and no ability to have anything changed or removed.

Sponsorship and gifts

No sponsored posts have been published. If that ever changes, the post will say so in the first paragraph, not in a footnote. The same applies to any review copy or free access received.

What this does not affect

The editorial position stays what it is: sources named, uncertainty left intact, and no claim made stronger than the evidence supports. Several articles here argue against the popular version of their subject, which is not a commercially optimal strategy, and that is rather the point.
